Specialized Bicycle Components Inc. cut 80 workers at its Morgan Hill headquarters as part of a nationwide 120-person layoff. The bicycle maker laid off its Morgan Hill workers last Friday after notifying them two days earlier, according to a letter sent to state employment officials. In lieu of 60-days notice, as required under federal law, the company gave affected workers 60 days worth of pay, according to the letter. "While Specialized Bicycle Components Inc. will continue to operate at this location, current economic circumstances have resulted in the need to conduct layoffs," Amy DeLong, the company's USA Retail legal counsel, said in the letter.
